                  HIST 260 - History of Middle East and North Africa3 CR   This course is a survey of the Middle East and North Africa from antiquity to the present. Major themes include the origin and evolution of monotheism; the rise and fall of various empires, such as the Persian and Ottoman, and the rise of their successor states; American and European influence; Arab nationalism; the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the emergence of radical Islamic movements such as Hamas and al Qaeda.  
  Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® reading score of 244, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 .
