HNRS 110 - Honors Seminar

This course provides students with an opportunity to engage in research at a deeper level within a chosen field. Students will collaborate with honors faculty to propose and plan a research project demonstrating advanced critical analysis, cultural and personal engagement, and effective communication. Seminar participants will meet monthly with other Honors Program students to plan, discuss, and begin to shape their specific honors-level project. Prospective students must meet the Honors Program admissions requirements.


Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® reading score of 244, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 
Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Collaborate with scholars, (at KCC and external to KCC) as well as professionals to produce a research project in a chosen academic or professional field.
  2. Create a research project incorporating theories, concepts and techniques learned throughout their academic career at KCC.
  3. Create a research project in which student will integrate multiple perspectives and approaches from academic career.
  4. Propose a research project that contributes to existing scholarship in student’s chosen academic or professional career.
  5. Create a research plan including sources, research methodology and outcomes.
  6. Integrate multiple sources from different academic and/or professional methodology.
  7. Synthesize multiple sources to construct a balanced, well-rounded final product.
  8. Produce a research project in which students use tools and resources from chosen field of study and/or professional career.
  9. Compose a final evaluation in which student will assess process as a preparation for future academic and/or professional career.    

Honors Outcomes:

  1. Collaborate in college, local, and global communities.
