General Admissions



Kellogg Community College is an equal opportunity, equal access college with open admission. Admission to KCC is open to anyone who demonstrates the motivation and maturity to benefit from courses and programs offered; however, admission to specific programs is not necessarily guaranteed.

Admission is open to anyone who fits into one of the following categories:

  • High school graduate
  • Earned a high school equivalency certificate (GED)
  • Completion of a home school program
  • Age 18 or older
  • A student desiring to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program

A lack of English language proficiency does not prevent admission to KCC; however, most college courses require basic proficiency in English. The Next Gen ACCUPLACER® writing and ESL tests can help you determine if improvement is needed. Please see an Academic Advisor for assistance.

Dual Enrollment and Early College Process

High School students who wish to earn college credit while in high school have the option of High School Dual Enrollment or Early College. Eligibility to enroll in these programs is determined by the student’s high school; students who intend to utilize one of these options must first seek approval from their high school. Students must meet all required prerequisites for the courses in which they intend to enroll and high school authorization must be received in order for registration to be permitted. All students must complete a KCC Application, selecting the student type as High School Dual Enrollment or High School Early College.

Guest Student Application Process

Students who are currently enrolled at another college or university and wish to take a class or classes at Kellogg Community College must complete KCC’s Guest Student Application.

Once you have submitted a Guest Student Application, you will need to establish residency using acceptable documentation. This can be done in person at the Admission’s Office in Battle Creek, or any of the campus locations in Albion, Coldwater, or Hastings or by contacting the Admission’s Office at 269-965-4153 or adm@kellogg.edu.

Guest students are required to provide documentation indicating that they meet all prerequisites for the course(s) in which they would like to enroll.

International Students Application Process

Kellogg Community College is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant students.

If you desire F-1 VISA student status, you must complete and sign the KCC International Student Application for admission and provide the following documents: official copies of your academic records (both high school and college) evaluated by an accredited evaluation organization, proof of written and oral English competency (if English is not your official native language), evidence that sufficient financial resources are available to meet all expenses in the form of a proof of support letter and a bank statement reflecting at least the minimum cost estimate established by Kellogg Community College.

Upon acceptance to the college, an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) form will be issued to you. Requests for KCC International Student Applications should be made through the Admissions Office.

Note: Authorized non-US citizens under visas other than F-1 may attend KCC; final admissions decisions rest with the College.

Admission to Allied Health Programs

Dental Hygiene, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Neurodiagnostic Technologist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography (Radiologic Technologist)

Because of space limitations, enrollment limitations imposed by accrediting agencies or program prerequisites; admission to these programs is selective. Any questions please contact the program directors.

  1. Select a program
    Individuals may apply for only one Allied Health or Nursing program at a time. Initiating an application to a second Allied Health or Nursing program will nullify any previous application to an Allied Health or Nursing program for that admission period. 
  2. Gather Admission Requirements
    At the time of application, applicants must supply all necessary documentation. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applicants are responsible for notifying Registrar’s office of any changes to name, address, or phone number. If mail is returned more than once in an application cycle, the potential applicant will not be sent any additional correspondence during that year.
  3. Submit Completed Application
    Selective Admission Applications should be submitted or resubmitted once the admission requirements are met. 
  4. Admission to the Program
    Applicants are admitted on a competitive basis. Admission requirements and point structure can be found on the Admissions website or on an Allied Health Program website. Admission requirements are published at the opening of the admission cycle. Applicants who are not admitted to the program will be placed, in order based on points, on an alternate list.
  5. Alternate List
    All alternates will receive an alternate confirmation letter indicating their status. Individuals on the alternate list will be notified by telephone if a position in the program opens. Once the program begins, all alternates need to re-apply for the next application year.

Admission to Nursing Program

Admission to the Nursing program is selective due to space limitations, enrollment limitations imposed by regulatory bodies, and program prerequisites. Please refer to the Nursing program for program information and graduation requirements. The admission process includes the following steps:

  1. Select a Program
    Individuals may apply for only one Nursing or Allied Health program at a time. Initiating an application to an Allied Health or Nursing program will nullify any previous application to a different Allied Health or Nursing program for that admission period. New applications are not accepted for an entering class year until the admission requirements for that year are published by the KCC Admissions Office. The Admissions Office publishes Nursing Admission requirements by the date applications are available for that year.
  2. Submit Completed Application
    Selective Admission applications should only be submitted or re-submitted once the admission requirements are met. Applicants are responsible for notifying Registrar’s office of any changes to name, address, or phone number. If mail is returned more than once in an application cycle, the potential applicant will not be sent any additional correspondence during that year.
  3. Admission to the Program

Program Technology Requirements

Applicants will be required to provide and use an acceptable electronic device to participate in the program, i.e., laptop, Mac OS X, iPad, and Surface Pro. Chromebooks are not compatible with program requirements. Nursing and Allied Health Admission Request for Consideration

KCC’s Admissions office recognizes that students may experience special circumstances beyond their control that may impact their academic success. Students may submit a Request for Consideration for extenuating circumstances that contributed to their inability to meet the admission requirements. All decisions are made in the best interest of the student and aim to ensure that integrity of program requirements. Approved requests do not affect points earned in the selective admissions process.
