INWE 45010 - Explaining GTAW 0.42 CR
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding is basically a form of arc welding in a controlled atmosphere. In this module, the welding student will learn the basics of the TIG process, equipment, welding machines, and electrodes.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate the knowledge of the gas tungsten arc welding process by correctly setting up a GTAW system, including voltage, amperage, shielding gas and all variables.
- Identify various weld defects and their characteristics.
- Execute correct metal preparation for GTAW.
- Describe the fundamentals of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).
- Identify the GTAW process in comparison to other arc welding processes.
- Identify the basic GTAW electrode numbering system as established by the American Welding Society.
- Produce various weld beads, flat position welds.
- Produce GTAW Aluminum welds in the flat position.
- Produce GTAW Aluminum welds in all positions.
