INHR 45021 - Building Management Systems 0.75 CR
In this module, the HVAC-R student will learn how computers and microprocessor controls are used to manage zoned HVAC systems in residential and commercial buildings locally and through computer networks. This module also covers the installation of building management systems and related components.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate and explain the function of the three main components in all control systems, the sensor, the controller, and the controlled device.
- Explain what the controlled agent is.
- Demonstrate and explain the function of the direct digital controller (DDC).
- Demonstrate and explain the function of the building management system (BMS).
- Demonstrate and explain installation, troubleshooting, and repair of both DDC and BMS control systems.
- Identify major and minor components including sensors, actuators, communication devices, as well as the central processing units and programmable logic controllers of the DDC and BMS systems.
- Explain the importance of how the DDC and BMS impact energy efficiency and the environment.
