ACCO 299 - Internship

3 CR
This internship is for students in the accounting and business programs. The course is designed to provide each candidate with the necessary analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, supervisory, and/or communication skills to be successful in a business environment. Students will practice the accounting, administrative, and/or supervisory duties in the existing marketplace.  Topics in the workplace (including career selection and marketing, investing and retirement planning, professionalism, and ethical practices) will be the focus of the course. Additional Information: Departmental approval needed.
Requisites: Take ACCO 101  and ACCO 102  with at least a grade of C.
Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Establish an understanding of their role within the environment in which the business operates.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the social, economic, and legal context within which the business operates.
  3. Utilize critical thinking skills in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information necessary to problem-solve various situations.
  4. Perform the ability to interact effectively with others in situations requiring team building, leadership, change, and negotiating.
