Corrections Certificate

Program Description

Code 118 - 16 Credits

The Corrections certificate is designed for students planning careers in corrections and for correctional officers who are interested in furthering their education. The courses within this certificate program comply with the Michigan Corrections Officers Training Council’s fifteen (15) credit hour requirement for employment as a Michigan correctional officer. Credits earned may be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Corrections.

Required Certificate Courses


All first-time KCC students must complete the FYS 101 - First Year Seminar  course with a grade of C or higher.
See an Academic Advisor for course completion and/or any questions pertaining to the FYS course.

Students must choose one course from CRJU 130 , CRJU 131 , CRJU 132 , and CRJU 133  plus twelve (12) credits from the following courses for a total of sixteen (16) credits:

Students must complete the Corrections program with a cumulative grade of C (73%) or higher to receive the Corrections Certificate.
