Sports Management Associate Degree, ASM


Program Description

Code 308 - 62-66 Credits

The Sports Management program prepares students to learn about the exciting business of sports and gain knowledge, skills, and experience for a stimulating career in the sports industry. Students embark on a journey to learn about event planning, operation of teams, athletes, athletic programs, marketing, business, administration, ethics, sales, diversity, and sports. After completion of this program, students will be ready for transfer to a four year institution.

Requirements for the Degree

  1. A minimum of sixty (60) credit hours earned, excluding BIOL, TSMA and TSRE courses with numbers less than 100 and MUSI 100. A cumulative grade point average at KCC of at least 2.0.
  2. A minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours must be completed at Kellogg Community College.
  3. A maximum of 75% of the credit hours required for a degree may be documented and transferred to KCC.
  4. All Students who obtain an Associate degree must complete the FYS 101  - First-Year Seminar course with a grade of a C or higher. This degree requirement can also be achieved by earning a degree from an accredited institution or transferring 24 or more credits from another accredited institution applicable to their degree. Service-Learning Requirement

Students who obtain an Associate degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree will be required to complete a service-learning experience. The final grade in the course must qualify for academic credit in order to receive the service-learning endorsement. Please contact an Academic Advisor for courses that offer a service-learning experience, or search in the class schedules.

Program Learning Outcomes


  1. Synthesize and apply information to become leaders in the sports and recreation industry.
  2. Obtain and understand foundational knowledge of the sports industry transferable to advance studies and/or career.
  3. Share the values of their profession in the community by participating in educational outreach activities to promote healthy lifestyles, unity, and healthy entertainment.
