Program Description

Code 244 - 61 Credits

 

The Graphic Design program at Kellogg Community College provides students with the foundational skills and creative techniques needed to thrive in today’s visual communication industries. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning and field experiences to equip students with expertise in design principles, digital tools, and practical applications. Students will learn to create compelling visuals for print, web, and multimedia platforms, while building a professional portfolio, in a modern design environment that includes a fully equipped computer lab. Upon completion, graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in design studios, advertising agencies, print shops, and corporate design department as well as freelancing, or to continue their education in the field.

Service-Learning Requirement

Students who obtain an Associate degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree will be required to complete a service-learning experience. The final grade in the course must qualify for academic credit in order to receive the service-learning endorsement. The service-learning experience can be achieved in GRDE 261 , Graphic Design Practicum, which is part of the Graphic Design Associate Degree Curriculum.

Required General Education Courses


All Students who obtain an Associate degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree must complete the FYS 101 - First-Year Seminar   course with a grade of a C or higher. This degree requirement can also be achieved by earning a degree from an accredited institution or transferring 24 or more credits from another accredited institution applicable to their degree.
