Program Description

Code 209 –60 Credits

The Exercise Science program prepares students to learn about the electrifying industry of kinesiology and gain knowledge, skills, and experience for an invigorating career in the sports industry. Students embark on a journey to learn about the biological, developmental, social, and behavioral bases of physical activity, movement, sports, and recreation. After completion of this program, students will be able to join the sports industry and/or continuing their education in advanced kinesiology studies.

Service-Learning Requirement

Students who obtain an Associate degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree will be required to complete a service-learning experience. The final grade in the course must qualify for academic credit in order to receive the service-learning endorsement. Please contact an Academic Advisor for courses that offer a service-learning experience, or search in the class schedules.

Program Learning Outcomes


  1. Synthesize and apply information to become leaders in the sports and recreation industry.
  2. Obtain and understand foundational knowledge of the sports industry transferable to advance studies and/or career.
  3. Share the values of the exercise science profession in the community by supporting educational outreach activities according to healthy lifestyle best practices.

Required General Education Courses


All first-time KCC students must complete the FYS 101 - First-Year Seminar  course with a grade of C or higher. See an Academic Advisor for course completion and/or any questions pertaining to the FYS course.
