3 CR
This course introduces fluid systems, piping concepts, types, and applications, tubing, hydrostatic and pneumatic non-destructive testing, valve maintenance, and basic layout methods and techniques. Lab Fee

Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain the types of various forms of layout tools and their uses.
  2. Explain the various types of piping systems, their color-coding system, the effects and corrective actions for thermal expansion, and the types and applications for various forms of insulation.
  3. Explain the types, materials, applications, properties, storage and handling requirements, fittings, valves, hangers, and supports used in copper, plastic, and ferrous piping systems.
  4. Describe the purpose of packing.
  5. Explain the purpose and methods of non-destructive testing (NDT).
  6. Explain the equipment and methods used for rolling, plugging, and extracting types, and describe the types of plugs used.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to layout, bisect, and divide lines.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to measure, cut, join, bend, ream, thread, and join copper, plastic, and ferrous piping.
  9. Demonstrate the ability to perform valve maintenance and installation and perform head and hydrostatic testing.
  10. Specify tools for tube rolling.
