INMC 111 - Piping Systems and Applications 3 CR This course introduces fluid systems, piping concepts, types, and applications, tubing, hydrostatic and pneumatic non-destructive testing, valve maintenance, and basic layout methods and techniques. Lab Fee
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the types of various forms of layout tools and their uses.
- Explain the various types of piping systems, their color-coding system, the effects and corrective actions for thermal expansion, and the types and applications for various forms of insulation.
- Explain the types, materials, applications, properties, storage and handling requirements, fittings, valves, hangers, and supports used in copper, plastic, and ferrous piping systems.
- Describe the purpose of packing.
- Explain the purpose and methods of non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Explain the equipment and methods used for rolling, plugging, and extracting types, and describe the types of plugs used.
- Demonstrate the ability to layout, bisect, and divide lines.
- Demonstrate the ability to measure, cut, join, bend, ream, thread, and join copper, plastic, and ferrous piping.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform valve maintenance and installation and perform head and hydrostatic testing.
- Specify tools for tube rolling.
