PEHL 151 - Kinesiology 3 CR This course involves a detailed study of the human musculoskeletal system and its function. Laws and principles of mechanics as they apply to the use of the human body, human mechanism, and its process of motor function are examined. Bony landmarks, muscle origin, insertion, and actions, and biomechanics and injury mechanism and prevention are examined. The course will also emphasize the use of mechanics in assessing and evaluating human and sport related motion.
Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® reading score of 244, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 . Course Learning Outcomes:
- Apply mechanical and kinesiological principles to the structure and function of the human musculoskeletal system.
- Apply principles of osseology to differentiate and classify bones.
- Apply principles of arthrology to characterize skeletal articulations (joints).
- Apply principles of myology to characterize muscle structure and neuromuscular function.
- Describe the origin, insertion and actions of the skeletal musculature of the human body.
- Perform motion analysis in daily living, developing sport skills, clinical assessment, exercise prescription, and adapting movement.
