BUEN 115 - Entrepreneurship: Operating a Small Business 3 CR This course is designed to develop students into entrepreneurs capable of operating their own companies and to reduce the high failure rate of starting, conducting, and expanding a business. Students will gain experience in problem solving through classroom activities and discussions, analyses of case studies, and projects and surveys of current business practices. Lab Fee
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Identify factors to consider in choosing among the primary organizational structures and legal forms of business ownership.
- Learn and apply essential business strategies, methods, and tools to effectively manage the operating activities of the business including planning, scheduling, inventory management, quality control, purchasing practices, and supplier relationships.
- Demonstrate basic analysis and interpretation of financial statements to track present activities and predict future performance.
- Assess marketing and promotional methods and select the best options to meet the objectives of the business and the marketplace.
- Enhance problem solving skills in all phases of management/ownership through case studies.
