BUEN 115 - Entrepreneurship: Operating a Small Business

This course is designed to develop students into entrepreneurs capable of operating their own companies and to reduce the high failure rate of starting, conducting, and expanding a business. Students will gain experience in problem solving through classroom activities and discussions, analyses of case studies, and projects and surveys of current business practices. Lab Fee

Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify factors to consider in choosing among the primary organizational structures and legal forms of business ownership.
  2. Learn and apply essential business strategies, methods, and tools to effectively manage the operating activities of the business including planning, scheduling, inventory management, quality control, purchasing practices, and supplier relationships.
  3. Demonstrate basic analysis and interpretation of financial statements to track present activities and predict future performance.
  4. Assess marketing and promotional methods and select the best options to meet the objectives of the business and the marketplace.
  5. Enhance problem solving skills in all phases of management/ownership through case studies.
