CRJU 203 - Crime and Delinquency 3 CR The legal and philosophical basis of the juvenile justice process, the measurement of crime and delinquency, theories of crime and delinquency causation, principle and legal issues pertaining to processing delinquents, (as well as control and preventive measures) are examined.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Students will have an increased understanding of the environmental influences on juvenile delinquency.
- Students will be able to analyze and compare various theoretical explanations of the causes, dynamics, and consequences of juvenile delinquency and make appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Students will examine the juvenile court system and its handling of cases, as well as other methods of treatment of children and adolescents.
- Students will demonstrate how the various roles in the juvenile justice system affect and treat juvenile delinquency.
