ASTR 104 - Introductory Astronomy 4 CR
The course is structured to introduce the student to many of the celestial objects appearing in our night skies. Methods, equipment, observations, and planetary relationships are introduced in a laboratory situation. [48-32-80] Lab Fee
Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® reading score of 244, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 .

Course Learning Outcomes:
- Develop a scientific method to describe the celestial sky.
- Demonstrate the basic principles in the explanation of celestial motion.
- Develop useful tools and knowledge for real-life star gazing activities.
- Understand various physical principles that will help them measure the basic properties of stars.
- Explain the processes that lead to the evolution of a star.
- Appreciate the methodology used for space exploration.
- Understand and interpret the observations from recent space explorations.
- Appreciate how space explorations can help us to understand the structure and evolution of our solar system.
- Interpret observations related to our own galaxy and other distant galaxies.
