INHR 12101 - Relays and Contactors 0.25 CR Relays and contactors are devices that perform switching functions. Unlike manually operated switches, they use an electric circuit to energize a magnetic field, which pulls on an armature, closing and opening the switch contacts. Because of this, they are well suited for remote operation. A good technician must understand how these devices work. This module focuses on their use in the HVAC-R environment.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate safe and proper use of electrical tools and equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic electrical theory.
- Demonstrate knowledge of electrical circuits.
- Demonstrate an understanding of electrical communication using schematic and pictorial drawings.
- Demonstrate an understanding of HVAC-R electrical controls.
- Demonstrate electrical troubleshooting strategies and techniques on HVAC-R equipment.
