Wind turbines are complex mechanical machines that require periodical maintenance and adjustment to prolong the productive life of the components. Another key factor in system performance is monitoring production trends and comparing the data to meteorological trends. This module will introduce students to the important aspects of system maintenance and monitoring.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the safety requirements both in the design and application of a wind system.
- Install wind energy systems in accordance with local and national codes.
- Calculate system and component size based on environmental conditions.
- Demonstrate the proper use and operation of a wind energy system.
- Demonstrate the proper care and maintenance of the wind energy system components.
