INWE 55050 - Tool and Die Welding 0.67 CR In this module, the welding student will develop the knowledge and skills to identify and properly weld the different types of tool steels used in the industry today. The student will acquire the skills for proper welding procedures in accordance with the tool steel welding standards set by the industry.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Identify different views of a blueprint.
- Describe and illustrate weld symbols.
- Execute fabrication techniques utilizing industry equipment such as saws, grinders, drills, weld equipment.
- Identify various weld defects and their characteristics.
- Execute correct metal preparation for the process selected.
- Describe hard surfacing procedures and uses.
- Apply cast iron pre/post weld learned techniques.
- Describe the hardness of various materials and hardness testing.
- Identify tool steel numbering and hardness.
- Execute welding techniques used for tool steels.
- Demonstrate the ability to repair broken tooling utilizing GTAW tool steel.
