INT 20030 - Standards: Legal Issues 0.13 CR Throughout history, standardization in manufacturing has been necessary for several reasons. The chief motivations to standardization and creating standards include: cultural, political, legal, or financial. In this module the student will learn about the history of standardization; how, where, and why standards in the United States are developed; and some legal issues involved with the setting of manufacturing standards.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the four groups of standards: voluntary, de facto, consortia, and regulatory.
- Explain the importance of standards in manufacturing.
- Apply standards to different processes.
- Distinguish between different standard organizations.
