INT 20020 - Overview of Standards Development 0.33 CR Throughout history, standardization in manufacturing has been necessary for several reasons. The chief motivations to standardization and creating standards include: cultural, political, legal, or financial. In this module, the student will receive an overview of the U.S. standards development environment, and how they can participate in the development of standards.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the four groups of standards: voluntary, de facto, consortia, and regulatory.
- Explain the importance of standards in manufacturing.
- Apply standards to different processes.
- Distinguish between different standard organizations.
