INPF 60011 - Control Theory 1 0.33 CR The pipefitting student will learn the architecture of process measurement and control. The pipefitting student will also learn about local indication, alarms, protection, networks, and primary elements/transmitters that are found in process control.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the architecture of process measurement and controls.
- Identify local, process, alarm, and protection controls.
- Identify process measurement and control devices and their operation.
- Identify open and closed-loop systems.
- Differentiate pneumatic/hydraulic multi-port directional valve schematics.
- Explain point force vs. distributed force, force balance, flow to open vs. flow to close, dome loaded, and differential.
- Explain the operation of pressure reducing valve and back pressure regulators.
- Identify direct-acting and pilot-operated regulating valves and their operation.
- Define differential pressure devices and dust collection operation.
