INHR 60021 - Heating and Cooling Design

1.04 CR
In this module, the HVAC-R student will learn to identify the factors that affect the heating and cooling loads of a building. It will describe the process by which heating and cooling loads are calculated, and shows how to load information is used to select heating and cooling equipment, including duct systems.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Describe the proper procedure for start-up, shutdown, and seasonal storage for HVAC-R systems.
  2. Explain the procedure for testing, removing, adding, or removing oil from HVAC-R systems.
  3. Describe the process of cleaning a shell and tube heat exchanger.
  4. Demonstrate skills to gather data, design systems, make drawings, estimate HVAC-R needs, and select equipment.
  5. Identify and describe many different heat exchange styles and how they work.
  6. Identify and describe several different alternative heating and cooling systems.
