INHR 55031 - Construction Drawings and Specifications

In this module, the HVAC student will learn the techniques for reading and understanding various types of construction drawings, specifications, and other related documents. Emphasis is placed on the types of drawings and specifications that are commonly used by those in the HVAC trade and other closely related trades. The procedure and documents involved in an HVAC equipment and material takeoff are also covered.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify and explain related HVAC-R components and supporting materials.
  2. Identify and explain belt drive and direct drive motor arrangements.
  3. Describe proper bearing identification, maintenance, and replacement.
  4. Create checklists for safe and proper preventive maintenance.
  5. Discuss proper tool selection and usage for preventative maintenance.
  6. Interpret and extract details from drawings, plans, diagrams, and equipment specification sheets.
  7. Explain a takeoff sheet and demonstrate its application.
