EMT 216 - Cardiology 2 2 CR This course is designed to provide knowledge in cardiology to fulfill the needs of the Paramedic program. This course involves medical procedures and use of equipment as stated by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and the American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support standards. Topics include pathophysiology of heart disorders, multi-lead EKG interpretation, and therapeutic modalities.
Additional Information: Department approval required. Requisites: Take EMT 211 with at least a grade of C-. Course Learning Outcomes:
- Students will interpret multi-lead EKG presentations by corresponding identification criteria and guidelines.
- Students will distinguish cardiac anatomy and physiology in relation to the EKG.
- Students will formulate a treatment plan for a patient suffering from a cardiac emergency.
