MUSI 141 - Fundamentals of Music for Teaching 3 CR Designed to prepare the student to use the rudiments of music through singing and playing informal instruments. Includes a survey of elementary school music texts, music listening activities, skills of music reading, and creative work in music. Lab Fee
Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® reading score of 244, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 . General Education Requirement: Effective Communication - Applied Core Michigan Transfer Agreement Requirement: Humanities and Fine Arts Course Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and utilize the basic elements of music (melody, harmony, rhythm, form, texture, and trimbre).
- Demonstrate basic keyboard and vocal proficiency.
- Distinguish the difference between active (fully engaged in the process through a purposeful response) and passive (personal enjoyment) forms of listening.
- Demonstrate a functional working knowledge of musical terminology.
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate a variety of musical topics into a nonmusical subject area, through a teaching presentation.
