MUSI 130 - Music Theory 1 3 CR Students are required to take MUSI 132 concurrently with MUSI 130. A study of fundamentals, including notation, scales, intervals, basic chord constructions, and the rhythmic/metric aspect of music. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of basic skills necessary for the composition and harmonization of music. Lab Fee

- Define musical terms and concepts (meter, notation, analysis, etc.).
- Identify, write, and sing/play all intervals within an octave.
- Identify and sing major scales.
- Identify, write, and play major and minor triads in all inversions.
- Identify, write, and play diminished and augmented intervals and triads.
- Identify, write, and play diatonic 7th chords in root position.
