CHEM 111 - General Chemistry 2 4 CR This course is a continuation of CHEM 110 and includes the following topics: chemical equilibrium, introduction to chemical thermodynamics, electrochemistry, some descriptive chemistry, nuclear chemistry, and organic chemistry. This course includes lecture and laboratory experiences. [48-48-96] Lab Fee

- Examine intermolecular forces and the effect that these forces have on the various properties of liquids and solids.
- Apply common methods of expressing solution concentration.
- Determine the rate of a reaction and its dependence on concentration, time, and temperature.
- Apply the principles of equilibrium to aqueous systems using LeChatelier’s Principle.
- Analyze and perform calculations with thermodynamic functions, enthalpy, entropy, and free energy.
- Discuss the construction and operation of galvanic and electrolytic electrochemical cells, and calculate standard and non-standard cell potentials.
- Differentiate between nuclear processes.
- Demonstrate competency in collecting, interpreting, and reporting data in the laboratory.
