ELL 85 - Intermediate Speaking and Listening 4 CR Students will improve their aural and oral communication skills. The three components of the course are a systematic introduction to and practice with the sound system of American English, especially suprasegmentals; extensive listening practice; and introduction to and practice with appropriate conversational skills, such as offering, accepting, and refusing invitations, and asking for and giving opinions.
Requisites: (1) ACCUPLACER® ESL listening score of 71 (OR) (2) ELL 75 with at least a grade of C. Course Learning Outcomes:
- Communicate with and comprehend English speakers.
- Participate in small group discussions in academic situations.
- Participate in whole-class discussions and activities.
- Give oral presentations appropriate for academic situations.
- Take comprehensible notes.
