MATH 105 - Beginning Algebra 4 CR Course content includes operations on integers and rational numbers, geometric formulas, algebraic expressions, solutions of linear equations and inequalities, graphs of linear equations and linear systems, systems of linear equations in two variables, polynomials and factoring, rational expressions and equations, and radical expressions and equations. Lab Fee
Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® arithmetic score of at least 250, or Next Gen ACCUPLACER® quantitative reason score of at least 237, or TSMA 45 with at least a grade of C. Course Learning Outcomes:
- Understand, interpret and use the basic symbols and words in the language of arithmetic and algebra.
- Use algebraic methods to solve a linear equation or inequality.
- Graph linear equations and inequalities in two variables.
- Solve systems of equations in two variables using multiple methods.
- Apply problem-solving strategies with applications of systems involving two variables.
- Factor algebraic expressions using all methods and use this skill to solve quadratic equations by factoring.
- Solve rational and radical equations.
- Simplify, multiply, divide, add and subtract real numbers, polynomials, rational expressions, and radical expressions.
