ALHE 102 - Communication for Health Care Professionals 2 CR This course provides the student with the basic concepts of effective communication in the health care environment. Verbal and nonverbal communication and techniques for overcoming communication barriers in the health care environment will be discussed. Students will demonstrate the ability to report relevant patient information accurately and concisely to other health care professionals.
Requisites: Next Gen ACCUPLACER® reading score of 244, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 . General Education Requirement: Effective Communication - Applied Core Course Learning Outcomes:
- Identify types of verbal and nonverbal communication.
- Discuss applications of electronic technology in professional communications.
- Differentiate between subjective and objective information.
- Compose professional correspondence utilizing electronic technology.
- Facilitate referrals to community resources in the role of a patient navigator.
- Discuss feedback techniques to get patient information.
