ALHE 101 - Medical law and Ethics in Health Care2 CR This course provides an introduction to the legal implications and ethical considerations of working in the health care environment. Students will explore and discuss legal issues in health care from the perspective of the provider(s) and the patient. Topics include scope of practice, standard of care, and Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). Students will also discuss the effect of personal morals on professional performance. At the completion of the course students will receive a professional certification in HIPPA compliance.
Prerequisites & Requisites: (1) ACCUPLACER® reading score of 60, or at least a grade of C in TSRE 55 (AND) (2) An official GED, or an official high school diploma.
